Directors Statement
"Sand Castles are built knowing that gravity has a bigger plan."
I believe that the organic process to art is to embrace the mistakes yet not always to break the mold of traditional style and form but to express the freedom to do so. We put our hearts into things that are guaranteed to be destroyed. I found, with no suprise, many relationships, broken and unbroken, are built just like that. We know and understand that being committed does not mean constant joy but rather, forever construction. In everything, we become broken, rearranged and changed. Good Relatonships and Bad Relationships all go through this process. It is a part of the human condition, the feeling of never being complete causing us to constantly grow. I wanted to explore these Ideas, and to apply them to film technique and challenge myself as a story teller and artist. So I gathered my friends, borrowed a camera, and bought some lights from a hardware store, and we shot without a script. We built sandcastles.
